Who Can Sign Up for Amigo Energy’s Solar Smart Credit Plan?
This plan is tailor-made for Texas homeowners who want to maximize the hard work their solar setups are already doing. If you want a reliable way to handle your power, you are in the right place.
To keep things completely transparent, you do need to have physical solar panels already installed (or currently being set up) on your house to jump on this plan. Because it is built around a Buyback Energy Credit, it won’t work for homes without a solar array.
Here is the quick checklist to make sure your home is a perfect match:
Grid-Connected Solar Panels
You must have physical, operational solar equipment hooked up to your home with a maximum capacity of 25 kilowatts (kW) or less.
The Right Tag on Your Profile
Your property needs a fully signed Interconnection Agreement with your local utility company (your TDSP) and an official load profile marked with a “PV” designation. This just tells the system you are an official solar generator!

Solar Smart Credit FAQs
Will my solar Buyback Energy Credits ever expire?
Nope! Your banked solar Buyback Energy Credits do not have an expiration date and will remain on your account until they are used. Unused credits are automatically banked and applied to future Energy Charges, up to a maximum accumulated credit balance of $500 while you are enrolled on this plan. If you reach the end of your contract or decide to switch to a different plan, you will stop earning new solar credits, but any rollover credits you’ve already saved up will keep automatically applying to your future monthly energy charges until they’re all used up. Just keep in mind that these credits are only for offsetting your energy charges. They don't have any cash value and will be lost if you fully cancel your service with us.
Is there a minimum usage fee for the Solar Smart Credit Plan?
Not a single one! We believe in keeping your energy pricing totally transparent, which means you will face zero minimum usage fees on this plan. While standard flat monthly fees like the Base Charge and TDSP pass-through costs still apply, you never have to worry about hitting a hidden usage quota.
Are solar panels common in Texas?

Our other options, like our popular free-hours plans, are awesome for traditional homes, but some plan’s terms disqualify properties with active solar or distributed generation setups. Plus, those plans don't include a mechanism to buy back your excess electricity. Sticking with a dedicated solar plan ensures your two-way meter is actually working to earn you credits every single month!
Does enrolling in the Solar Smart Credit plan guarantee a solar credit?
No, simply signing up for the Solar Smart Credit plan doesn't automatically mean you’ll see a credit on your bill. Think of it this way: credits are only earned when your home solar system sends extra electricity back to the grid, and your local utility reports that exact outflow data to us.
